New York City is gearing up for one of the busiest tourism years in its history. With the United States marking its 250th anniversary in 2026 and the New York/New Jersey region hosting eight FIFA World Cup 26™ matches — including the Final at MetLife Stadium — NYC Tourism + Conventions has rolled out new tools to help the expected wave of visitors plan their trips.
Two AI-powered chatbots, named Libby and Ellis, are now available in 60 languages on NYCtourism.com and WhatsApp to help both leisure travelers and business-event professionals with trip planning. The bureau has also launched a dedicated World Cup fan guide at nyctourism.com/worldcup26 covering match schedules, neighborhood guides, and the city's soccer culture.
Getting the City Ready
Working with the New York New Jersey Host Committee, NYC Tourism has rolled out a business toolkit and educational webinars to help local businesses prepare to welcome fans, plus a new Travel Trade Academy module for tour operators and travel agents building World Cup itineraries. On the ground, the city has outlined a Midtown transportation plan for match days, including expanded pedestrian and bike space along routes like Sixth Avenue.
